APCL Cammell Laird Welcomes Minister for Maritime.

APCL Cammell Laird welcomed the new Minister for Maritime, Keir Mather MP, where he announced that coastal communities are set to benefit from over £1.1 billion in joint Government and industry investment for the maritime sector.

Announced at the start of London International Shipping Week, the funding will unlock growth and jobs, including in the engineering, green technology and construction sectors.The minister enjoyed a presentation and tour of the APCL Cammell Laird facility.

David McGinley, Chief Executive of APCL Group, said: ““APCL Group was delighted to welcome Keir Mathar MP, the new Minister for Maritime, together with representatives from the National Shipbuilding Office and central government.

"APCL Group is a critical supplier to both the Government and the UK Ministry of Defence, and as such the meeting provided an opportunity to showcase our current shipbuilding and shiprepair projects at our Birkenhead facility.

“APCL is proud to continue our long-standing partnership with the MoD, the Royal Navy and the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, with the Group supporting 100% of the RFA fleet.”

“The minister was also able to meet members of the APCL workforce, as well as apprentices working at the facility and in training at the nearby Engineering College.

“We were also able to showcase APCL Cammell Laird’ s brand new state of the art shore to ship power technology, a £7 million project has been part funded by a £3.5m grant from the UK Department for Transport’s Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition Round 4 (CMDC4).”
