CAMMELL LAIRD RAISES £4,000 AT CHRISTMAS TIME FOR LOCAL COMMUNITY.

12 Jan 2021

Each year, Cammell Laird employees and members of its supply chain take part in a huge fundraising effort to support the local community at Christmas time.

Working together, Cammell Laird employees and supply chain raised a grand total of £4,000 for families and elderly people in need through competitions, raffle, Christmas Jumper days and supplier donations. The money raised was shared across several initiatives, all of which provided much needed support for local Merseyside charities including Santa’s Little Helpers and Claire House.

Cammell Laird suppliers Denholm Industrial donated £500 to Santa’s Little Helpers while Seaking Electrical donated £150 in food vouchers, £250 in cash, clothes and gifts.

A separate raffle, which was facilitated by many other members of Cammell Laird’s supply chain including; Infotone, Premier Suites, Vard, Barnshaws Bending Centre, Nationwide Safety and Training, De Boer, Porta Cabins, Graham Jones Cranes, Rhodda, Crossword, West Wallasey, Vigo and On Site Radios led to a further donation of just under £400 being made to Age UK.

The money was put to good use. Food and clothing vouchers were donated to six families together with new toys and toiletries. Cammell Laird also donated funds to social services, who used the money to buy gifts for the children who are currently under their care.

Lara Hooper, Document Controller at Cammell Laird, is responsible for Cammell Laird’s Christmas fundraising every year. Lara said: “Without the support of Cammell Laird and members of our supply chain, these local families would not have received anything this Christmas. It is a huge relief for them to know that they were able to pay for their food and have a gift for their children.

“I am extremely proud of the team at Cammell Laird and we look forward to raising more funds later this year.”

Paul Owen, Managing Director of Cammell Laird said: “Throughout Cammell Laird’s history, we have enjoyed strong ties with the local community. We continue to build on our social legacy by supporting charities and organisations that are dedicated to making positive change and delivering vital services in Merseyside. Our recent Christmas fundraising efforts is testament to this commitment.”
